When to freeze vs replace a Pleo card

If you think your card is missing, or you suspect someone may have your card details, you can secure it by freezing it temporarily or replacing it permanently.

  • Freeze is temporary — it stops new payments until you unfreeze the card
  • Replace is permanent — it disables the old card and gives you a new one

How to choose between freeze and replace

Replacing your card is recommended if you suspect someone has your card details — even if you still have the physical card

  1. If you can’t find your card, freeze it first
  2. If your card is lost or stolen, replace it
  3. If you see a transaction you don’t recognise, freeze your card immediately and then report the transaction in the app
  4. If you believe your card details were exposed (e.g. through a scam), replace your card
