Pleo MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets you connect Pleo to AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and other MCP-supported assistants. Once connected, your AI assistant can help you find answers about company spend, review expenses, work with receipts and complete everyday expense-management tasks using your Pleo data.
To use Pleo MCP, you’ll need:
- An eligible Pleo plan, check your pricing plan to see whats included
- A Pleo admin to enable Pleo AI for your company
- An AI tool that supports MCP or custom connectors, such as Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot
- Your own Pleo login
How to enable Pleo MCP
A Pleo admin needs to enable Pleo AI before anyone in the company can connect Pleo to an AI tool.
To enable Pleo MCP:
- In Pleo, go to Settings
- Select General
- Open Pleo AI
- Turn on the MCP toggle
Once this is enabled, users can connect Pleo to a supported AI tool.
How to connect Pleo to your AI tool
Once a Pleo admin has enabled Pleo AI, you’ll need to add Pleo as a custom connector in your AI tool, since it isn’t yet listed in AI connector marketplaces.
See the general Pleo MCP Installation Overview or follow the setup guide for your specific AI tool:
Once connected, you can ask your AI assistant to help with common Pleo tasks. For examples, see the use cases in our documentation.
You can also combine Pleo MCP with other connected tools, such as Slack, Gmail, Microsoft 365 or NetSuite, to create multi-step workflows.
For example, you could ask your AI assistant to find employees with missing receipts and draft reminder messages in Slack, or help prepare expenses for month-end close.
Good to know:
- Some AI tools also have limitations. For example, Microsoft Teams supports fewer write actions than Slack, so reminder workflows may vary by tool
- Pleo MCP does not give your AI assistant additional access to Pleo
- Your assistant can only do what you’re already allowed to do in Pleo. For example, if you don’t have permission to approve expenses, your assistant won’t be able to approve expenses for you
- Every request is handled through scoped tools, and actions made through MCP are logged in Pleo’s audit trail. The audit trail is visible to admins
Using Pleo MCP with multiple companies
If you have access to more than one Pleo company, Pleo MCP supports multi-entity use.
Each request is scoped to one company at a time. Your AI assistant won’t move between companies in a single request unless you choose which company it should use.
