If your company verification fails after you sign up to Pleo, it usually happens because information is missing, the wrong document type is uploaded, or the verification request is still being reviewed. This guide helps you understand what to check, what to upload, and what to do next.
What “failed verification” can mean
Company verification issues typically fall into one of these categories:
- The verification form can’t be completed or submitted (technical issue)
- Pleo asks for more information after you submit (follow-up request)
- Your verification was rejected, and you need to correct something and resubmit
- Verification is pending longer than expected
Check if verification is still in progress
After you submit your verification, it’s reviewed by the compliance team. This usually takes 2–4 business days.
If more information is needed, you’ll receive an email asking you to provide additional details or documents.
What to do
- Check whether you received an email requesting more details
- If you did, open the email and follow the instructions to upload what’s requested
If you were asked for more information, make sure your documents meet the requirements
Pleo may request documents such as photo ID (for individuals) or an ownership document (for company ownership verification)
If photo ID is requested, make sure:
- The document is valid and not expired
- You upload a colour image
- The photo shows the full document (not cropped)
If an ownership document is requested, make sure it:
- Shows the full ownership chain up to the individual shareholders
- Is signed by a company director, lawyer, or accountant
- Is dated within the last 12 months
Good to know: If you don’t have UBO/director details available, you can enter their email address during verification. They’ll receive a request to provide their details and verify their identity
If the verification request won’t submit (or you can’t complete it)
Try these quick checks:
- Double-check all required fields
- Make sure every mandatory field is completed (including company details and any requested person details)
- Try again on a different browser or device
- If you started on desktop, try on mobile (or the other way around)
- If verification is triggered via an email link
- Open the link on the same device and browser where you started the process
- If clicking the link fails, copy and paste the link into your browser instead
If your verification was rejected
If verification is rejected, it’s usually because one of the submitted details or documents doesn’t match the expected format (for example, an incomplete document image, an expired ID, or an ownership document that doesn’t show all ownership layers).
What to do
- Re-check the document requirements above
- Prepare a clearer version of the requested documents (full page, readable, in colour where relevant)
- Resubmit the information using the link/instructions from the email you received
